Dorli Muhr Carnuntum 2019

Image ~ June 9, 2023 ~ Zoltán Németi ~ 1 Comment

Before our visit to the winery this spring I only tasted a few wines from Dorli Muhr, one of the top blaufrankisch producers of Austria. They were quite different from other Austrian reds and it all made sense when we met her in the cellar. Go visit wine producers! Continue reading →

I could simply repeat what I wrote about the previous vintage of this wine. A humble, cheap little wine, but expressive and delicious, I love it.

Pure pleasure: Ferraton Père & Fils La Tournée Rouge 2020

Image ~ May 30, 2023 ~ Zoltán Németi

Just a €7 syrah-grenache from the Languedoc, but so enjoyable that I’m tempted to call it the wine of the month.

I loved the previous bottle in last August and hence had some expectations when opened another recently. The months passed did not do a favour to this wine, it closed up – I often experience this with young Southern Rhone reds, so probably it should not come as a surprise…

Kékszilváni, which translates to blauer silvaner and is most likely the same variety indeed, can be tasted again from Hungarian vineyards. You guessed it right, the man who brought it back is József Szentesi.

I have not tasted a Los Vascos cabernet for more than 10 years, so when I recently spot a bottle in a local wine shop, nostalgia won and I bought a bottle. Even though I was kind of sure that I wouldn’t be happy with the wine…
