Vylyan did it again: Macska Portugieser 2021

I thought it was probably just a vintage thing for Vylyan, they nailed it in 2020 and made a standout Portugieser, but the new vintage is just as lovely, if not even better.

If you are in doubt that Portugieser can give nice wines, then try this one. It’s authentic. Not complex, but so delicious, everything the variety is supposed to be. Pure, like a Cotes du Rhone red vinified in concrete, there is even some resemblance to those. Savoury and dark fruited, juicy and has good intensity to its flavors. Round and seamless on palate, bistro red-like, just a joy to drink.  Good to very good (86 points), around 5 Euros (1900 HUF), great value. Drink now (to 2024) and buy by the case!
