I have probably written this many times, but again, Bordeaux is one of the best wine regions offering great value reds. Probably it’s the best, considering the volume of these wines and also the reliability – I’m rarely disappointed. This Chateau Haut Redon is proving the point.

Cote Mas Syrah Grenache 2020
I loved the 2019 version of Cote Mas Syrah-Grenache, and while a bit surprising, the 2020 is again a nice bargain.
Another great Beaujolais Cru from Dom. Richard Rottiers – Moulin á Vent 2021
The Brouilly 2019 last time was not my favourite wine from Richard Rottiers, but the current Moulin-á-Vent (2021) is again outstanding, the kind of wine which makes me a fan and follower of this top Beaujolais producer.
A carbonic maceration cabernet franc – Domaine Breton La Dilettante 2020
I rarely buy low SO2 wines anymore as there’s a lot I don’t like about this wine trend, but La Dilettante amazed me ten years ago so I wanted to give it a try. Well, I’m not the same wine lover as back then…
Back to Rhone – La Vieille Ferme 2021
A bit of nostalgia, this wine was available in Hungary many years ago, imported by Bortársaság. Then supply discontinued, sadly, but I spot it in the Vinatis webshop when ordering some Loire reds, so here we are.
Supermarket wines: Pierre Chanau Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux 2019
New vintage of this great value entry level Bordeaux red, the Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux from Auchan’s own label series. The 2018 was probably even better, though I’m not sure – they are a bit different, showing vintage character I guess. Both very well made and enjoyable.
Must try red – Producteurs Plaimont Monastère rouge 2014
Tannat from its homeland, or nearby – OK it’s not from Madiran, but from Gascony. Then it’s a proof that they can match the quality of the more famous appellation, this is a great wine which I enjoyed a lot.
Chablis Grand Cru that lives up to the name – Domaine Christian Moreau Les Clos 2014
If you saw my previous post I’m sure it’s the third bottle on the photo which got your attention (same photo is featured here). A Les Clos Grand Cru Chablis – a rare treat for most of us, and it’s not just getting crazy expensive but it’s not even easy to find. Continue reading
Value from the supermarket – Domaines des Lauribert Cotes du Rhone 2019
Picked from Auchan, my third bottle of the wine or so. Lovely affordable Cotes du Rhone red.
