Easily the most exciting Burgundy I opened this year. How sad is that the domaine’s last vintage was 2024 – but that’s life.
A bit of a low intervention wine vibe here – but only in the background, not interfering with the typicity. Oak is pronounced, too, yet I have no problem with that, it’s pretty, adds nutmeg and cinnamon nuances. That ethereal pinot thing, it’s weigthless yet intense, although becomes quite tight and structured in the finish, with lovely chewy tannins. It’s raw, untamed, yet it has the Burgundy magic. A captivating, great wine full of energy, 91 points. It’s lovely already, but might improve further in the coming years..Drink from now – 2032.

Where can er buy this wine?
I bought it from http://www.lesbonsplansduvin.com, but unfortunately it’s sold out there. The 2022 vintage is available here: https://www.rpfinewines.com/en/cote-de-nuits-village/4196-fornerol-didier-cote-de-nuits-villages-2022.html, although it’s a lot more pricey, I bought mine for under 30 euros.
