If you follow this blog you know that I’m passionate about the revived indigenous Hungarian variety called tihanyi kék. The latest vintage (the 2025) from its most prominent producer Szentesi Pince is now released, and what a wine it is. I my eyes it is their best so far.
There is a precision to the nose of the 2025 which I did not find in previous vintages. Red currants, cherries and the trademark rainbow peppercorns – it’s as exotic as ever. Perfectly seamless on the palate, weightless and complex at the same time. Moderately structured with light tannins, this is absolutely ready now. Nuanced and refined, 92 points. Drink now, there is no reason to hold this. 25€.
