Standout Cotes du Rhone: Saint Cosme 2024

Saint Cosme’s entry level Rhone red blew me away almost two years ago – and I think I even underrated it. It was clear that I would try the next vintage, so here it is, the 2024. To be more precise, the 2025 is already on the market, but let’s focus on its predecessor. It’s great.

Tastes more Southern Rhone and St. Cosme than syrah, but I’m not complaining. Serious concentration, well above its pricepoint. Blackberries for days, it’s dark, ripe, a tad baked. All spice, bay leaves, it’s quite distinctive. Powerful on the palate, dense and chewy in the best sense. Quite firm, great tannins add texture and length. An untaimed, great wine offering a lot of enjoyment. 91 points, fantastic value for €10,90, widely available in Germany, UK.
