Lovely chianti – Col d’Orcia Gineprone 2020

My favourite affordable chianti is back on the blog! This 2020 release is just as good as the 2018 was (see post here). I need to buy more of it…

The essence of chianti and sangiovese. A charming nose of black cherries, leather and a bit of smoked ham, with some primary, purple fruit still present. Just a touch of oak in the background. Airy, unforced in texture, but grippy and pleasantly angular on the finish, as it should be. Raw, untamed, real  sangiovese. I love it. 89 points. Coup de coeur. 11-12€ in Germany and Italy.
