I did not expect such a good wine. For just under 20€, this is still affordable in the Burgundy context, and it’s very, very good – dare I say it’s good value, too.
Quite powerful for a regular Bourgogne – it still has typicity, yet it’s as structured as a lighter nebbiolo. Savoury, dark nose with a touch of integrated, smoky oak in the background. It combines the grace of pinot with massive tannins on the palate: the moderate alcohol level (13%) and gentle acidity giving lightness and drinkability, the chewy tannins providing seriousness. It has Burgundy charm and some complexity and depth, too. Very good, 89-90 points. If you love tannins just as I do, you can open it now, but this should age well. Good value, I ordered more after tasting the first bottle. Retailers include Vinatis and more.
