My thirst for grenache (be it varietal or blended) returned. I’m just more careful when ordering, I check the alcohol level even before the price… I look for an ABV of 14% or preferably less. That Cochon Volant was a nice discovery last time, and here is another lovely Languedoc red that fits the bill, Cent pour Cent by Domaine du Peyra.
A beauty. So pure, polished and balanced, grenache to the teeth. No oak in sight. Perfect ripeness, josta berries, black berries, strawberries on the savoury nose, it still has some primary freshness. Supersmooth, it has the generosity of the variety but it’s not heavy – great to see a grenache at only 13,5%. Absolutely delicious and ready, drink now. 89 points,
