One of the cool things about this Pieropan Soave Classico is that it’s so different from the major white wine styles (chardonnay, sauvignon blanc etc). An other one is the packaging, the bottle is just beautiful.
An interesting, perhaps slightly oxidative nose – not in a bad way. It makes sense when you read that the wine is made in concrete tanks… almonds, ripe apples on the nose, it’s faintly aromatic. Super delicious, smooth, fresh enough but round rather than steely. There is depth and length to the flavour even though it’s absolutely effortless and sits at only 12,0% ABV – one of the reasons why it’s so graceful. Very good wine, 89 points. Drink now, 12-13€.
