As good as a Tokaji – Gobri Late harvest Muscat 2017 from Mátra

What a shame that dessert wines are not fashionable these days – this is a category which Hungary excels in. Even outside Tokaj, just look at this late harvest Muscat from Mátra producer Gobri.

Pure and vibrant style, no Botrytis, no aged character, no dark color. Pretty, citrus and grape driven aromatics, with saffron and honeycomb toffee topnotes. Just a bit of viscosity, combined with lightness, this is very easy to drink for a dessert wine. Moderately sweet and quite refreshing. Quite an extravagant finish with tangerine notes and again some saffron. A lovely sweet Muscat, highly recommended.
