A new experience – Kékhegy Nero 2020 from Mátra, Hungary

Here is a wine to widen your wine horizon. Artisanal, well made and quite unique. Can be too much for many, though…

What an exotic wine. Aromatic and opulent, unusual for a red wine, although shares some similarities with turán. Litchie for days on the nose, it’s muscat-like, but dark fruited. Quite ripe and concentrated, there is some candy action going on. Full on the palate and very smooth, a real seducer. Quite flashy, that balances the bright acidity and the great, firm tannins. Big and hedonistic but also effortless. Very good and interesting, it’s worth experiencing, although I cannot image drinking it often. 88 points. Small batch, limited availability, there is still some at the winery.
