The red side of Rasteau – Helen Durand 2017

Not the dark, ripe and big red I expected from the appellation.

Somewhat unusual for a Rasteau. Pale color, red fruits instead of dark, highish acidity. The Southern Rhone warmth comes through, though. Perhaps a bigger portion of Cinsault in the blend? Quite savoury, a bit sharp even. Not a complex wine, but interesting. Give it some time to soften.
