Királyleányka is a white grape variety indigenous to Transylvania and Hungary, one that has big potential I believe, but sadly no producer takes it seriously. Most of it end up in blends, one can find only a few basic examples made entirely from this grape, from producers like Bolyki or Kősziklás, the latter is reviewed here.
It’s all about freshness. Very crisp, lean with grapey, flowery notes and just a touch of passion fruit. Lively for sure, but arguably it’s rather a generic fresh white than a true Királyleányka. Good drive, well integrated acidity. Notable tannins on the finish which is a bit out of the place, but all in all, this is a pleasant little wine which can show better with food.
