Great aged cabernet franc from Hungary: Weninger 2006

For the lovers of Loire cabernet franc. Not for everyone because of the herbal notes, but this has class for sure. And this is a piece of the modern era of Hungarian wines, started almost from scratch 25-30 years ago.

Nerdy stuff. Very leafy and vegetal but quite exciting at the sane time. Like an old school, cool year claret with extra pirazins. Bay leaf, graphite notes. Smooth, balanced and tastes salty. Complex and absolutely lively, not declining, although the end of plateau is not far away. Full of personality, a great wine. 91 points, drink now-2027.
