I loved the 2019 version of Cote Mas Syrah-Grenache, and while a bit surprising, the 2020 is again a nice bargain.
Quite different compared to the previous vintage. Monastrell-like aromas, it’s almost like a Bandol, wild and earthy. Baked cassis, tomato leaf, some blood, definitely on the savoury side of things. Smooth with low acidity, only medium-bodied, but gently powerful, due to the ripe, firm tannins. Southern generosity and ripeness with restrain – it’s so French. An authentic red from Languedoc. 87 points, great value at 6-7 Euros. Stockist: Vinatis, source: own purchase.
