From the Bordeaux varieties it’s cabernet franc which is the most accepted and famous in Hungary. And not just because Villány declared it as its main variety, although no other region focuses on it to this extent. I tried four recently, and I was really happy with only one of them, the Kiss Gábor; the others are not entirely convincing and some are also overpriced.
This must be a cheap California cab if you live in the USA, however it costs more in Europe – close to 20 Euros in Hungary. A bit pricey here, but a bargain in its home I assume. Continue reading

Auchans own label called Pierre Chanau is quite reliable, at least that’s my experience from the last few years. Except a few underperforming bottles I had mostly good to very good ones, and many are great values. This Montagne Saint-Emilion is another well-made wine. Continue reading
