A beauty: Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette 2017

Daniel Bouland is one of the top names in Beaujolais, and rightly so I would say. I tasted his 2017 Morgon Corcelette next to Dorli Muhr’s  Samt & Seide Blaufrankisch 2017, and while the Austrian is really very good, the gamay is just a more complex wine.

All the charm of a great Beaujolais Cru. Playful yet serious, a hint of the hibiscus sweetness of (semi-) carbonic maceration adding a twist to the savoury black cherry aromatics. Medium-bodied (13,3% ABV) in a cool climate mode, so drinkable, yet well-structured with great firm, stem-like tannins on the finish. Bone dry but not austere at all.

Rating: a great wine, 90 points.
