Affordable Burgundy: Domaine Forey Père et Fils Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 2023

If you are not familiar with the category, a Passtoutgrain is a burgundy blend which always contains gamay (at least 15%) – and it’s on the cheap side when it comes to this superstar wine region. This one from Domaine Forey Père et Fils could actually pass as pure pinot noir.

There is an unattractive, overt earthiness to the nose, but the wine is so delicious that I’m not complaining. A delicate style of Burgundy, oozes cool climate and strawberry, cherry aromas. Light on its feet but finishes pleasantly tannic, it has a solid structure, and perfect acidity makes it refreshing. It could be cleaner, but it’s quite authentic, very good wine – 87 points. 10-12€, stockist is Kierdorf Wein (and more).
