In one word: authentic.
A pure expression of Sangiovese. Light garnet color, restrained nose with no oak in sight and just medium body – definitely not the “international red” school. Noble aromatics, leather and dry cherries meet figs and cured meat. Starts light on the palate but finishes with marked, chewy tannins. There is some seriousness about it, but on the other hand it’s a bit lean and ascetic – a very good wine and I would love to have a case in my cellar, but lacks some generosity and complexity to be great. It might improve with time, though.
