New wave Chilean red. Definitely not one buried in new oak, but there is nothing unexpected here – it tastes Chilean first and foremost. I always wonder where that strong character comes from, I never find it in anywhere else, and it’s always there in the country’s reds. Winemaking? Terroir speaking loud?
Shows the common aromatics of Chilean reds, that exotic blend of mangos, peaches, fuel oil and dark fruits. I like this character, but it overwrites varietal notes. Full-bodied, looks honest and unadjusted, it’s even rustic a bit. Grainy tannins. High acidity makes it a bit sharp and sour, it will probably integrate better with a few years in the bottle.
