A low intervention cabernet franc from one of the pioneers of the style in the Loire Valley, Catherine and Pierre Breton. You could guess from the label that it’s meant to be an easy drinking red, and it thoroughly fulfils that promise.
Just a tiny bit of funk, not more. Cheerful and juicy, a bistro wine, one with concentration and big flavour. The intensity is just excellent, with proper typicity. Bright, leafy, shows some pretty raspberries, too. Lightly extracted, but with varietal, gently firm tannins. As easy-drinking as a Beaujolais. Superb. 89 points. Wine name: Catherine and Pierre Breton Trinch 2020. Stockist: Vinatis, 18,20 €.
