A wine that I started to follow a few years ago – Szentesi Tihanyi Kék. Such an exciting and exotic wine, I can’t get bored of it.
After the outstanding 2018 reviewed here, this 2019 is a more delicate, fragile version of this wine. Light in color and body, it has a weight of a kadarka but less acidity, more roundness. Red fruited, with hibiscus, tart cherries and that unmistakable, pronounced spiciness marked by pink peppercorns. A bit of VA perhaps. Perfectly balanced and immensely drinkable, not too complicated or long, but nuanced and unforced, it’s hard not to like it.
