Yet one another superb everyday Bordeaux from Auchan. Probably no surprise that it’s a Cotes de Bourg, that appellation offers so much for little money.
So well put together. Seamless and open to business. Dried plums meet cedar box and a touch of marzipan, unmistakable Bordeaux in character. There is a plushness to it which I associate to merlot, but it’s actually cabernet dominant. Smooth on the palate and surprisingly flavorful for its humble price. Properly tannic without being austere, the balance is great, such an enjoyable wine for its medium weight. 86 points, around €6 in Auchan (2400 HUF in Hungary), great value.
