As far as I can tell Grenache is on the rise down under, at least some bloggers are enthusiastic about the variety. I can see why, when tasting wines like this Willunga The Hundred Clarendon Single Vineyard 2015 release.
Pure and honest, definitely not a heavily worked New World red. Pale colored and unforced. Red fruited nose with rebarbara and cherries, showing some development. Pine resin, mint and camphor topnotes, it’s quite extravagant. Unforced and full at the same time, with marked sandpaper tannins and a bit of heat in the finish – a true Grenache character here. Enjoyable and has personality too.
