I’m not often happy with Chilean wines. But this one is different, not just good, but exciting, even though it’s not expensive.
A bit opulent and sweet on the nose, as all Chilean reds, yet it’s savoury at the same time. Rose hips, cooked strawberries, litchies, petrol, a bit of herbs – quite a lot going on the nose. It’s like the warm climate version of Hungarian kadarka. Juicy, smooth and light on its feet, beautifully held together by great, gently firm tannins. Pure, balanced and so enjoyable. 89-90 points. Highly recommended. Bought it for 10,5€ from Vinatis, a great value. £13 in UK. Drink now.
