What a surprise! I admit I know nothing about the winemaking history of Luxembourg. I was just not prepared for this, it’s so damn good that’s hard to believe.
This could come from the Mosel (it makes sense, that’s not far away), so if you love those German Rieslings, chances are that you will like this too. It has the same magic going on. So fragrant, airy, crisp and yet it’s really complex. Lovely peachy nose, it’s quite aromatic for a Pinot Gris. The balance is amazing, but it’s unusual for the variety, perhaps: crisp acidity complemented by a little residual sugar, again, a Riesling resemblance. It’s so delicate, so light, yet amazingly flavorful. The refreshing factor is out of the charts. It’s bloody delicious.
Rating: a great wine, 92 points.
Price: I’m not sure, probably 13 Euros in Luxembourg.
Value: fantastic. Highly recommended to track it down.
Drinking window: it’s perfect now. Quite likely to hold well in the short or mid-term, if you can resist opening it.
