A superb supermarket Burgundy from Auchan. Isn’t it enough to say that I went back to buy more after tasted it?
Made from Gamay but it has nothing to do with the reds of Beaujolais – it’s a classic Burgundy instead. Savory, spicy, hard to pick up specific notes. Cherries, perhaps, in a real cool climate mode, and some nutmeg. Hardly medium-bodied, bone dry, tight and so vinous – it’s an adult wine. Low alcohol and perfect balance. Finessed and classical – as good as such a modestly priced red can be for the price.
Rating: perfect in it’s class: 10/10 (or 87 points on the absolute 100p scale).
