Supersmooth Languedoc red: Chateau de Caraguilhes “Cochon Volant” 2024

Never had a wine from this producer before, and what a nice surprise. So refined, skillfully crafted – these are things I love about French wines.

Carignan, grenache and syrah – not a surprise that it resembles to a Cotes du Rhone. Dark and ripe profile, southern generosity, but in a controlled way – hey, it’s French wine, it must be elegant. Josta berries, blueberries, violets on the nose. Bacon nuances, suggesting syrah. Absolutely seamless on the palate, so smooth. Spot on balance, well measured in every respect – it drinks well already, no harsh edges. A pure and seductive red, virtually perfect in its weight class, I love it. 89 points. Drink now (can be kept for a few years but why wait?). Great value for 8€, stockist is vinatis.de.
