I can’t remember ever tasting a Moldovan wine, but here we go. It’s like what I would expect: an opulent, almost New World-like red. How to put it politely? Definitely not for the Burgundy lover…
Intense, dark, ripe and full-bodied. Lots of new oak, lots of concentration, not much personality. Big red in the international style. Heavily worked, made to impress the ones who seek power above all. I must admit it’s polished and not too heavy, but it’s noticeably sweet and also has a heat on the finish. Kind of like your typical off-dry Puglia primitivo. Uninteresting and a bit cloying. Not for me. 81 points. €50 or so.
