When it’s just one detail why a wine does not impress me.
A lovely nose. Finessed and savoury, there is a feminin, graceful side to it which I would expect from the addition of viognier; it shows blackberries, black currants and a bit of bacon. Not your heavy OZ shiraz. Smooth on the palate, light on tannins and structure, early drinking style. The alcohol sticks out in the finish, though (14,5%, according to the label), which makes it less drinkable. That’s why I won’t rate it higher than 85 points. It was probably better 1-2 years ago, in the primary fruits phase. Drink up. Stockist is vinello.eu, price: 10.58€.
