A new discovery for me. I tasted many monastrells in recent years, but not a single one from this producer – a big mistake. Compared to the previous two monastrells on this blog, this shows yet another face on the variety. And what a lovely wine it is.
A true monastrell, ripe and generous, yet it’s a playful, less dark rendition. Some sweet red fruits, next to medlar notes, raisins – it’s oxidative in a good way. Full and smooth on the palate, but juicy rather than extracted, there is a bistro quality to it. Packed with flavour, so enjoyable. Great, grippy tannins and just a bit of warmth on the finish. An effortless, pretty monastrell with personality. Drink now, 89 points.
Wine name: Bruma del Estrecho Paraje Marín 2020. Price: €7, stockists: Decantalo, Vinissimus and many more. Great value.
