I bought this bottle at the cellar door, when visited this great Csopak producer in July. I’m still impressed, I reckon this is one of the best olaszrizling (welschriesling) out there.

A different take on the variety. Taut and acid driven. Lots of reduction on the nose, shows the ageing on fine lees, and this gives intensity and a bit of a Burgundy character – I like that. Crisp acidity, a tight palate, but no phenolics so it’s not edgy. There is substance and concentration, too, to match those acids. Lots of flavour and intensity, it’s a serious wine, built for the long run. If opening now, give it lots of air, but preferably put it away for a few years. Very good wine, 88 points. Great value at 3000 HUF (7-8 EUR), highly recommended (stockists: cellar door, Radovin, and many others).
