An Australian classic with a French accent: Shiraz made with equipment brought from St. Emilion. Well, mainly – the winery homepage tells us that for this particular wine, around one third is vinified the local way.
It’s first and foremost a classic, generous and ripe Barossa Shiraz, offering sweet plum, menthol and bacon aromas. Big and mouth-filling, but refinement and restraint keep its opulent nature in check – the touch of the French hand I assume. It tastes dry and salty (I mean real salt content, which is not uncommon in Australian wines to my knowledge), without the tartness of overtly added acid. Lots to enjoy here.
