I have probably written this many times, but again, Bordeaux is one of the best wine regions offering great value reds. Probably it’s the best, considering the volume of these wines and also the reliability – I’m rarely disappointed. This Chateau Haut Redon is proving the point.
The right balance: less structure, more drinkability, yet still has typicity. Perfect for an affordable Bordeaux red, you don’t buy such for laying down for years but to open it the next day. It’s classic with cassis, tobacco and leather notes and a round, soft palate, framed with the right amount of tannins. With good intensity it’s really enjoyable. 85 points, great value at 4 Euros, bought at Lidl.
