Auchans own label called Pierre Chanau is quite reliable, at least that’s my experience from the last few years. Except a few underperforming bottles I had mostly good to very good ones, and many are great values. This Montagne Saint-Emilion is another well-made wine.
Old World restrain here. Classic Bordeaux, hardly medium-bodied, elegant and bone dry. Graphite meets dried plums and tobacco on the savoury nose. Some development. Seamless and velvety, with proper tannic structure. Not complex but quite lovely, all the details are where they should be. Solid everyday Bordeaux. 87 points. Price is 3500 HUF or 9.5 Euros in Hungary; Auchan offers better value Bordeaux actually, for example the Cotes do Bourg or the Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux.
