Takler, one of Hungary’s biggest name in red wines has been improving in recent years. Less oak, more freshness and definition. I like the results.
This is an outstanding Hungarian kékfrankos. It might be even the best currently. Shows the regional character and the variety, too. Generous with the oak just supporting the ripe mulberry fruits. Round and plush on the palate while still having the brightness of the variety, it doesn’t try to imitate a cabernet. A complex, well-made wine. 90 points, great value for 5000 HUF (12,5 EUR). Stockists: Bortársaság, Veritas.
