I bet that Luxembourg makes some of the finest Pinot Gris in the World. Here is just another bottle to prove that – it’s not your usual, dilute white wine for sure.
This is the second vintage of the Kohll Leuck Kelterberg Pinot Gris I tasted, and it delivers again. 2018 was a hot vintage in the Moselle, just like in many European wine regions, and it’s reflected in the creamier texture and the fuller body (alc. went up to 14% this year, compared to 12.5% in the 2017), yet that Mosel-like, fresh and delicate character is still preserved. A nice phenolic grip in the finish also helps keeping the balance. Such a nuanced, elegant and complex wine, I really enjoyed it.
Rating: a great wine, 90 points.
Price: 10.5 Euros at the cellar door (see webpage).
Value: amazingly cheap for the quality, this might be one of the best QPR whites in the World.
