When oak takes over. This is not what I hope from a red Bordeaux.
Smells like raw oak and rum and not much else. Clearly overoaked and it’s not even a pretty type of oak. The taste is much better, at least the attack, it’s velvety and polished with real substance. But the hot and overtly tannic finish leaves a coarse impression at the end. Not an elegant wine, tries too hard, less would be more. Bottle age might improve it.
