You probably don’t buy a nebbiolo if you are not prepared for drying tannins. It’s part of the game and I usually like it, but in this case I struggled a bit.
A beautiful, complex nose, it suggests Barolo quality. Savoury, intense, it’s about forest floor, chestnut and walnut aromas rather than fruits, quite a nebbiolo thing. Full on the palate with a creamy texture, gradually building to very firm, tannic finish. Drying, drying tannins, lots of them, they are slightly bitter, too. The nose has the nebbiolo magic, but overall the wine is basically undrinkable. It could be great with better tannins. Only try with heavy food. 86 points.
