An interesting Furmint from a new Tokaj producer.
Unusual for a dry Tokaj furmint. The nose is marked by reduction, the same kind which is the hallmark of the Joh. Jos. Prüm rieslings – it hides the variety but gives the wine real character. Unusually polished on the palate, too, compared to most furmints (they tend to be slightly rustic and angular), and the flavors here are again different. Arguably lacks typicity, but very refined and has complexity as well, clearly top shelf stuff. Importantly, acidity is also ripe and integrated, which is not a common feature in 2016 Tokaj dry whites. A great wine.
