Kékfrankos in Napa Cab mode.
If you like it big, this will fit the bill. It could be called old fashioned or Parkerized – but I would not deny the appeal, enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s made from kékfrankos (a.k.a. blaufrankisch), but don’t look for the variety here, just think of a generous, ripe and big red. Lots of oak, but it’s integrated, and definitely adds depth and smoothens the palate. So concentrated, so rich, packed with flavor. Hedonistic, yes, but it does not go over the edge. Good choice when you need a hearty red in the cold winter.
