A bottle I bought at the producer, when visited the Mosel in 2017. It was great back then, and it’s great now.
Besides some petrol, no sign of age. All the hallmarks of a great Mosel riesling, it’s fragrant, fragile and finessed. That really cool climate freshness. So light, yet so full of flavor, intensified by electric acidity, nicely balanced with residual sugar. A boatload of litchies on the palate. Immensely delicious and dangerously drinkable.
Rating: great wine, 91 points.
Price: € 16,5.
Stockists: 2016 is long gone, the current vintage is 2020, widely available throughout Germany.
Tasted: December, 2021.
Drinking window: perfect now. I can’t see a reason why to hold it, but can be aged for 5 years for sure, probably longer.
Source: own purchase.
