After this recent Maury Sec, let’s see a classic Maury: a fortified, sweet one. If the wine is just half as good as the design… that label is stunning!
100% Grenache, alcohol is 16%. Tastes like an LBV Port with some age, and combined with a Southern Rhone red. A pretty, stewed strawberry meets dried fig nose, shows some development. Quite sweet on the palate, balanced with pleasantly coarse, stemlike tannins one often finds in Grenache. Just a bit of heat on the finish. Somewhat restrained (at least at this stage) and could be more complex, but still a very nice and interesting wine, I enjoyed it.
