One of the most exciting monastrell I have ever tasted. I just realised that this is also a notable discovery of the year for Tim Atkin…
A different take on the variety. Fresher and less ripe than most. Clever reduction in the form of struck match, it adds interest and savouriness to the nose, which shows blueberries, dark fruits, a hint of black pepper. It’s full-bodied but tight and lively, with surprisingly good acidity. Nice texture, crunchy, great tannins, there is a whole bunch feel to the palate. An exciting new wave wine with a bit of a Burgundian touch. 91 points. Price is 16-20€ or £18.85, stockists include pinard-de-picard.de, decantalo.com, greatwine.co.uk and more in Europe & UK.
