Do you think Beaujolais Nouveau should be drink in one or two months after release? The cheapest and simplest ones, yes, probably. But surely not the good bottles. This old vines version from Domaine du Perchoir was singing at the end of November, and it might be even better now. I’m glad I bought a case back then.
Open and outstandingly intense, just like five months ago. Did not lost any of the appeal – it’s a beautiful drink. Fragrant, bright and playful. A nose full of hibiscus, cherries and strawberries, echoed on the palate. It’s delicate but there is real depth to the flavor, and it has length too – not a simple quaffer at all. Crisp acidity, real drive. So energetic. The Riesling of the red world.
