Bolyki is one of the most well known producers in Eger, and this is their special edition Kékfrankos, available only at cellar door. I would not be surprised if it would sell off quickly, just because of that pretty label.
Stay away if you are afraid of pronounced oak flavors. Smoky, charry aromas dominate this wine from the nose to the finish, lending it a Black Forest ham (strongly smoked German ham) character. That’s a lot of unintegrated oak, but still the wine is good – it’s vivid, a true cool climate red, with the crisp acidity one expects from Kékfrankos. It will always be oaky, but that gives some extra length to it as well, and I expect it to sufficiently come together with a few years of aging. Try in 2022.
