More than two months without posting about a Southern Rhone red, it’s clearly too much. Sadly, I’m running out of them, only a few remained in my wine fridge and there is not that many available on the Hungarian market. Luckily some Chapoutier wines are listed by the big retailer called Veritas, and the entry level red I picked did not disappoint.
Good typicity, you get all the hallmarks, dark, ripe fruits, a broader palate with nice tannic grip. It’s very Old World in style, restrained, elegant and dry, without a hint of the over-ripeness one often gets from the Rhone these days. So pure and unforced, I would happily drink this all day, every day.
Rating: good to very good, 86 points. In it’s class: 7-8/10.
Price: 2500 HUF, or around 7€ in Germany, France. It’s worth it, I would buy again.
