A powerful Saint-Joseph syrah. Good, yes, many will love it, but it lacks some Northern Rhone charm for me.
A nod to Barossa shiraz here – ripe and a bit hedonistic. Dark on the nose with smoky, bacon notes, good depth and something that evokes Australia, perhaps some US oak? Lots of concentration on the palate, it’s serious stuff. Dry and savoury, with proper, firm tannins, but finishes hot. A good one regarding power, but somewhat monolithic, lacking finesse and real typicity. 87 points, 20€, stockist in UK and Europe is vinatis (and more).
