When you walk around in the pretty town of Rust, you can’t miss the beautiful Feiler-Artinger weingut. It was just later that I realised that it’s this building on their wine labels, with which I’m familiar with. For example on this blaufrankisch, which is their entry level wine.
Classic Burgenland blaufrankisch: international style, lots of smoky oak. The palate is nice, though, smooth and seamless, and it’s only medium-bodied. Good, ripe, but firm tannins. Drinks nicely, but rather a crowdpleaser, not a terroir wine. 85 points, 7,90 € at cellar door. Drink now – 2026.
